TRAC President and CEO Dan Walsh spoke with The Washington Post reporter David Lynch for an interactive feature article in their September 30 issue, which offers a comprehensive look at today’s maritime supply chain challenges.

With an increasing amount of attention focused on the strained flow of goods across the U.S., The Washington Post interactive report took a broad look at the supply chain challenges, the historic increase in the import of goods, precipitated by the pandemic and the surge of e-commerce shopping, the shortage of labor and the lack of technological platforms for timely and efficient data exchange.

Dan offered his expertise and insights about the important role that chassis plays in the transportation supply chain — how the chassis process works in handling cargo, meeting volume increases, and the impact of the pandemic and e-Commerce spending on chassis operations.

TRAC has spent $1 billion over the past decade upgrading its 180,000-chassis fleet. The investment in the fleet is up 20 percent year-over-year to meet the demand pressure.
