To Our Valued Customers:

As you may know, the marine terminal operators in the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach who are members of the West Coast Maine Terminal Operating Agreement (WCMTOA) have informed us that they intend to impose a $5.00 gate fee each time a laden chassis goes in or out-gate at a WCMTOA member’s terminal facility. This fee is currently scheduled to go into effect on September 1, 2016.

As we had been doing prior to the unilateral implementation of this fee, TRAC will continue its efforts to negotiate an agreement(s) with the WCMTOA members that will address the gate fee, the services provided for this fee and any other services needed to facilitate intermodal operations. However, if TRAC is ultimately required to pay the gate fee or any other fees imposed by the terminal operators, we will be forced to pass these charges along to our customers as a separate line item on our chassis invoice.

It is our goal to minimize the impact of the above actions on our customers and we will continue our efforts to resolve these issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. We will continue to keep you, our valued customers, appraised on the status of this issue but if you should have any questions or comments in the interim, please do hot hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

MarkMichaels-sig
